Excellent Movie. Verified Purchase. This is pretty good. This is a study in greed and betrayal. Three "friends? They discover that the machine is pointed at their apartment and each day will produce a Polaroid picture of what happens 24 hours in the future.
Of course they use this information for money and as the use of the camera continues, the three characters begin changing mentally and not for the better.
Paranoia sets in and they turn on each other, which leads to a tragic conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, though I failed to understand what the character at the end of the movie was attempting to do.
And I can't fully ask the question without giving away the ending. You should enjoy this and come to your own conclusion. Although, this is a low budget production, it was well done, if you can get pass the fact that is a low prod movie, you might enjoy it.
The concept and plot of the movie made it interesting, I think there were probably scenes that may have been too long and perhaps not necessary.
If this movie is remade into a big studio production it would be worth seeing. Acting side of it: the kids were good. They need more acting experience but they will get there.
They aren't as bad as other actors from some big Hollywood productions. I have to say they were directed very well. I can see the director knows how to work well with actors and give directions.
These actors were not "dead in the eye", there were some thought behind their choices. The camera movement were done very well.
For being a low budget i think that the technicalities were done very well. This was so good! Easily one of the best science fiction movies I have seen in a while.
Sort of A Simple Plan but involving time travel of a sort, it had a fairly simply premise but was extremely well done in terms of pacing, plotting, casting, acting, it had lots of twists and turns, was very unexpected at several stages, the trailer did not spoil the film, it was so good!
Three friends who appear to stay in the same apartment definitely a couple, a man and a woman do, while another friend of theirs is always there discover through a series of events that the apartment directly across from theirs, with an excellent view of their den, has a camera pointed at them.
Finding the occupant of that apartment and apparent inventor of the camera, a professor, mysteriously dead in a storage room of their apartment complex his skin burnt to a crisp but apparently his clothing untouched , the three come to several conclusions.
One, they accept the idea pretty quickly that the camera is showing the apartment 24 hours into the future and whatever activities are going on in the den.
Three, they can use this camera to make lots and lots of money cheating on betting on dog races well, one of the characters decides this but the other two go along fairly quickly.
From there things get worse. Much worse. Winning so much attracts the wrong attention. Someone comes looking for the missing professor.
When the photographs show strange things occurring 24 hours into the future of the three friends and when the three friends start to have disagreements about how to deal with the future-seeing camera paranoia and suspicion grows, the camera, the money, the unwanted attention, the paranoia slowly but inexorably changing the friends.
Very good. Not a well-known cast, the setting essentially confined to two apartments, a storage area, the grounds and some of the street around the apartment, it was all the film needed to have a tense, dynamic, very well paced science fiction thriller.
I think the casting was very good, the best one being the actor playing Jasper the friend to the couple , played by George Finn.
He was that sort of friend with one foot in shady things, one with a few pushes could go down a dark path indeed, though in the end not the only element that made the movie take such a dark turn.
The first time they "used" the system they supposedly controlled the future by determining what would be in the next photo, namely the dog race results.
However, after this first time, instead of controlling the future photo they became slaves to it and had to position themselves to mimic that day's photo.
The whole idea that you would know what you'd be doing 24 hours ahead can be used to your benefit is absurd - you could see what you would be doing but in no way could you control that in advance.
Remember playing "Telephone"? Sometimes you come across gems in a sea of yuck. This is a gem. Yes it has been told before, several times before but each is a bit different.
The actors reactions, the fresh eyes on the project and so on. The fact that this is maker funded shows the confidence in the project and it shows.
Watch it and find your own thought process in it. Imagine what you would change. Funny, not changing anything in the photo is much like the last sentence here.
If you think of a change, then watch, is the movie changed? Hmmmmmmm I have an answer for that This was a really different take on time or maybe a better way of looking at it would be predicting the future rather than time travel.
